2006 Four Winds Hurricane 31D Class A RV

Coach has been very reliable. House systems are simple and similar to standard residential applications. Chassis maintenance is about the same as a large pickup truck. Same power train as Ford used with gas powered F250s and above, E-Series vans and Excursion SUVs. Owner installed suspensions updates include air bags at each axle with on board air compressor and driver inflation controls, and a rear trac bar. Ride quality is very good and predictable in less than option conditions. Quadra Bigfoot Manual Hydraulic Leveling Jacks installed by owner for camp site leveling and stabilization.

Chassis GVWR is 18,000 lbs. and GCWR is 23,000 lbs. Engine is a Ford 6.8 L V10 3-valve gas engine with a TorqShift 5-speed transmission. Tires are Uniroyal RS20 245/70R 19.5 G Load Range installed Mar 2020. All date codes are Feb 2020. Current tire mileage is 15,479. No signs of sidewall splits or cracks. Tread wear is even and consistent on all axles.

House cooling is from a 15K BTU ducted heat pump in the living area installed April 2024 while the bedroom has 13.5 BTU ducted A/C that is original to the coach. Furnace is 35K BTU propane. Potable water tank is 50 gallon capacity, propane tank is 15 gals, black tank is 32 gals and gray water tank is 44 gals. Water heater is dual fuel and 6 gals.

Owner installed 10 cu ft residential fridge is power by a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter when coach is unplugged and takes power from two 6 VDC deep cycle batteries. Anticipated run time from full charge is about 18 hours. When traveling the engine alternator will provided 12VDC power for the inverter. House battery tray has room for two additional batteries. Inverter is set up to automatically switch over to keep the fridge energized when shore or generator power is not available. Inverter is also configured to power the front TV outlet, kitchen outlet, bathroom and the exterior outlet. Two 100 watt solar panels on the roof help maintain the battery charge when 120VAC is not available. AC/DC converter is a 60 Amp 4 Stage model supporting both house and chassis batteries when 120VAC is available from shore or generator.

Coach has an Onan 5500 watt generator which was installed last year replacing 3600 watts sized unit. It was removed from a permanently parked fifth wheel and has very low operational hours. Generator has the capacity to power all electrical appliances. Fuel supply is from the main gas tank and has an estimate runtime with a full tank at half load of about 90 hours. Generator will shut down once tank level drops to 1/4 of tank capacity.

Entertainment is from two 32” Amazon Fire TVs. Bedroom TV can be moved outside. Sony Blue Ray DVD player is attached to the front TV and can be switched to the outside HDMI outlet. Dash radio is a Kenwood with Bluetooth. Radio can be connected to three sets of speakers, front in the driving area, bedroom area or outside.
